From output to action

An assistant that writes an answer is different from a system that can pay for a service or coordinate a workflow. Crypto introduces possible primitives for these actions: programmable settlement, cryptographic identity, and open coordination. None of these alone makes an agent reliable.

Look for the constraint

A useful research question is whether an open payment network solves an actual bottleneck. Can the same workflow run with conventional accounts? What changes when participants are software, operating across organizations without an established relationship?

Trust still needs a design

A signature proves that a key authorized an action. It does not prove that an action was sensible. Spending limits, revocable permissions, independent verification, and human review remain central to responsible agent systems.

What to investigate next

Read the permission model before the token narrative. Trace one complete transaction, identify who can stop it, and ask what happens when an external service fails. This is a conceptual research guide, not a claim about a currently deployed project.
